TOPmla (The Offbeat Party) by Discovery Depot: Celebrate + Play + Bond

I’ve always believed that children learn best through play. Play is a universal, natural and spontaneous act for kids. During the younger years, play is also often unstructured, encouraging kids to explore and learn more about the world around them.

I don’t just let my kids play with just any kind of toy though. I take great care into choosing the kinds of toys my kids play with. I make sure that they’re age-appropriate, safe and educational, among other things, to ensure that they contribute my kids’ healthy development.

Recently, I got our five-year-old Ziggy some new educational toys from the Discovery Depot.

I chose these toys because I knew we can use them not only for hours of fun but also to help me homeschool Ziggy. We love them and have been using them a lot over the past few weeks.

If you haven’t heard of Discovery Depot yet, you must know that they provide safe, educational, well made and sustainably produced toys that engage a child’s sensori-motor, cognitive, and social-emotional skills at every stage of his or her development from 0 – 12 years old. Discovery Depot understands that good toys support a child’s healthy development and that there is a vital connection between learning and play and every milestone of a child.

Discovery Depot distributes internationally awarded brands such as Wonderworld wooden toys, Safsof Active Play Toys, Red Toolbox real tools for kids, VIGA wooden toys, and ARTEC playbooks and blocks.

All these toys comply with international safety standards for toys and are available online at www.discoverydepot.com and in selected toy stores in Metro Manila, including Rustan’s Department Store, Hobbes and Landes, Babyland, Toytown, Mindwerx and Fully Booked.

But the good news is that you can now bring Discovery Depot toys not only to your home but to your parties too!

TOPmla (The Offbeat Party) by Discovery Depot: Celebrate + Play + Bond

In July 2015, Discovery Depot launched TOPmla (The Offbeat Party) packages, for hire during children’s parties and corporate events. It’s not your usual party entertainment though. They offer parents a fun and educational experience for their children where they can interact with each other for meaningful play and bonding activities. After all, it is through play where children get to build friendships for life.

A TOPmla party can be held at home or at a party venue. It can be the sole entertainment for the party or it can be a complement to other party packages parents may get. It’s so great because not only do kids get to celebrate, they also get to play and bond too.

So what exactly does a TOPmla look like?

They set up a play area for kids in any event, may it be birthdays, weddings, corporate events, bazaars other special occasions. The standard floor area is 4m length x 2m width but this can be customized to suit the client’s needs. This is usually good for 3 hours but they can also extend with an additional fee.

The set up will contain several activities including:

  • reading nook
  • play area
  • arts & crafts
  • interactive play
  • eco-friendly wooden toys
  • toys that will help them develop their fine motor skills, hand and eye coordination.

All wooden toys are made from eco-friendly, non-toxic materials. You can be sure that they clean the toys every after and before use. You can even buy selected toys on site as well and get 20% off. Take note though that they do not provide someone to look after the kids while playing.

Interested to book TOPmla for your next event? All you need to do is to deposit Php 1000 to reserve your date. This is non-refundable but deductible from the total amount.

Looks interesting! I also believe in learned play and everything about playing especially in the toddler years gives kids an opportunity to learn something new.

How wonderful! We will be acquiring educational wooden toys soon for homeschool too. We’ll keep this in mind. Are they the first for PH to have a play area for rent? I think it’s really a great idea. It’s a shy away from the stereotypical kiddie parties.

These toys look well made. I am very selective of toys I buy for my kids too and durability is a major factor in choosing my kids play things.

Adding this to parties is a great way to entertain the kids. Admittedly, I’ve never heard of it before though. That calendar looks so nice! 🙂

I am also a firm believer of learning and discovery through play. My then seven month old Yael and I attended a mom-child play workshop and we continued doing it at home. And yes, in a month of doing the same activities again and again, i saw a big improvement on him.
