My hubby grew up suffering from asthma. It’s actually hereditary in his family and so we already expected there was a good chance that our son, Ziggy, would inherit it too. True enough he did.
Ziggy has suffered from asthma several times since he was a baby. I remember feeling helpless because I never had to deal with that with my two older kids. I had to rely on research, our pediatrician’s advise and hubby’s own experience on how to handle it.
Thankfully, it has been over a year now since he has had an attack. I don’t know if he’ll ever have an attack again in the future but if there’s something I can do to help prevent it, of course I will do it.
So, I was really happy when I learned more about humidifiers a few weeks ago when I was invited to the launch of Crane here in the Philippines. Crane USA was founded in 2005 believing that humidifiers and air purifiers are some of the best ways to control indoor air pollutants and improve air quality. However, most of these products don’t contribute to the aesthetic aspect of our homes. This is why Crane decided to take the lead into putting fun into cool mist humidifiers and air purifiers by following a mantra: design for a better living.
The official distributor of Crane in the Philippines, Keywest Internationale, believes that its about time Filipinos are given better options in improving their homes’ air quality and interiors. So they made sure that you can find them easily now in local stores.
I got to see the various Crane designs for themselves and they’re all so nice! They have the Classics, the Drop Shape, the Adorables and the Horribles.
That black one on the photo above is not a sound system but a humidifier! It’s one of the classic designs called the Crane Digital Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier (with ionizer function). Unlike the other designs, this is 2-in-1 because it has both warm and cool mist options, LED screen with digital humidity display, sensor touch panel, remote control, ionizer, among other features.
The orange and red ones on the photo above are two of the Drop Shape designs while the Penguin is one of the Adorables. Below are some of the other Drop Shape and Adorable Designs (Penelope the Pig and Mya the Monkey).
Other Adorable designs include Puffington the Penguin, Freddy the Frog, Elliot the Elephant, Daphnie the Duck, Oscar the Owl, Shark, Curtis the Cow and the Train. The Drop designs are available in different colors – white & blue, all white, grey, green, red and orange.
Below, you’ll see the Adorable Train design, which I wanted to take home because my son is obsessed with vehicles. In fact, when he saw it he wanted to play with it. Haha! Unfortunately, that day there was only one available and somebody else beat me to it. Too bad!
The other designs beside the train are the two designs available under the Horribles line. They are called Zeke the Martian (Green) and Jax the Dreadul (Blue).
It’s great that we can improve the quality of the air inside our homes. But what if we go on vacation somewhere? Good thing there’s a Crane Travel Humidifier too. They’re available in slate, black and white.
If you’re interested to know how much these cost, here are the price points:
Crane Drop Shape Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifiers – Php 2,999.75 – 3,499.75
Crane Adorable and Horrible Humidifiers – Php 2,799.75 – 3,499.75
Crane Travel Humidifiers – Php 1,899.75
Crane Digital Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier – Php 6,099.75
I wasn’t able to take home the train design that day but at least the one I got is really cute too. I got the Curtis the Cow, now sitting pretty on top of my worktable inside our bedroom.
I was even able to have it personalized during the event and had them write my three kids’ names on it. So nice!
You might be wondering though why we need humidifiers at home. Well, they provide us with several benefits including the following:
- loosen nasal congestion
- ease dry coughs
- soothe itchy dry eyes and skin
- prevent nose bleeds
- relieves cold and flu symptoms
Humidifiers are especially beneficial for babies because:
- Newborns are obligate nasal breathers, breathing only through their noses for their first 4 – 6 months. Humidity helps relieve dry and stuffy noses.
- A baby’s skin loses moisture twice as fast as adult skin. Humidity soothes dry skin, chapped lips and other skin irritations.
- Cool mist helps treat symptoms of croup, a viral infection that affects younger children. Croup causes swelling in the child’s vocal chords resulting in barking cough.
Pediatricians also recommend humidifiers because they help moisten nasal passages and soothe dry coughs so a child can breathe easier and sleep peacefully through the night. Sometimes the best medicine is no medicine at all.
So far, I’m pretty happy with how our Crane humidifier is functioning. None of us have experienced any cough and colds at home for the past two weeks that we’ve used it. Hopefully, it really will help prevent asthma attacks for both my hubby and son. Thank you, Crane!
You can get your own Crane humidifier in S&R, Rustan’s, Toys R Us, Babyland, Lazada or directly from Keywest Internationale.

This is such a great news. I have been looking for a good humidifier to use. My son is sensitive to dust / dirty air. But whenever he has cough and colds, I use vaporizer to lessen the use of oral medicine. I will definitely grab a Crane. Is this battery operated? Or I still need to plug this in? I’m actually scared of buying something that will only overheat once used everyday.

Hi Cheryl! You need to plug this in. There’s actually no danger of it overheating. We were told these products have sensors and that they automatically turn off when there’s no more water inside. 🙂

We’re lovin’ our crane humidifier too. We bought one for hubby’s nasal congestion. You’re so blessed mommy that they gave it to you for free with a personalized name on it pa 🙂
Being a pro-natural, I love this part you’ve said “Sometimes the best medicine is no medicine at all”
I remember when my nieces and nephews everytime they have congested nose due to colds. I feel helpless for them what more of their parents. This is very useful to have in the bedroom.

Hi Renz. The prices are listed above.
So sayang! I bought a Crane Drop Shape Humidifier from Zalora two years ago. We never got to use it so I sold it on OLX cheaper. I thought we’d never use it. I guess I can just get the travel size one so we can bring it anywhere.

A travel humidifier is a great idea. They have so cute designs, my only worry is children might think these are toys…
Such a great news for a better well-being, and it comes on affordable prices. With that being said, I’ll recommend this to some of my friends who suffered asthma attacks at times.

Hi,
I’m not sure if my second daughter has asthma. Wondering how you found out? What it’s like exactly? Thanks!
Jackie recently posted…The Giving Pop Up Sale at the Parenting Emporium
We found out officially through his pediatrician although hubby and I knew already before then. My hubby has had asthma since he was a kid so he’s very familiar with the signs already.

Oh I love it, sis! Will check it out soon! 🙂

Is this battery operated? Or you need to plug it? Designs are attractive. Better place it in an area that can’t be reached by kids. They might think they’re toys.

Sayang! I just bought a humidifier for our home. Little girl has skin stuff to deal with and it really helps keep our home smelling nice.
i feel for those who have asthma especially during this time of the year. this humidifier is good news for December.
this is something we could really use at home. Jared may not have had an asthma attack for years {thanks to swimming!} but i believe he has allergic rhinitis and it gets worse at this time of year. Hopefully I can get one of these very soon. Oh and I love that cow design, soo cute!

I love the Adorable designs. I might need one of those, too, since my son and I both have allergic rhinitis.
I can attest to the wonders of dehumidifiers, you will really feel so much better by having them in your home/office.

I really Like this humidifier. We have penguin one in my little girls room. Very cute and works great. Cool mist coming out of penguins beak. If I sit it too close to things they will get a little moist but nothing to be too concern about.. My girl loves how cute he is.
My kids love their Crane humidifier, They have green frog version of this humidifier and the moisture comes out of the top of its eyes and is distributed evenly into air.. I think the output is great and operation is very easy. Great for using cold/cough/flu season.
