I turn 32 today! Yahoo! I guess most people dread their 30s but I really don’t. I believe that the 30s are the new 20s (or so they say!). Anyhow, though turning 30 two years ago was a pivotal point in my life, I didn’t really feel older. Turning 32 today doesn’t really make me feel any different either. Actually, I’d rather be 32 than 31. I just really have a thing for even numbers, weird, right?
Anyway, I was thinking that since today is my birthday I should blog about the things that I’m thankful for but I changed my mind. Not that I’ve nothing to be thankful for. I’m thankful for A LOT of things. It’s just that I feel like channeling my inner Oprah instead and just blog about the THINGS I KNOW FOR SURE. These are lessons I’ve learned over the past 32 years of my life that I feel I should share with everybody. These are the lessons that make me, ME.
  1. God exists. I just need to look at Kai and the kids and I KNOW this would not be possible without HIM.
  2. Love is real. No matter how much it hurts sometimes, it is worth it.
  3. Things happen for a reason. We may not know it while the thing is happening, but we will eventually.
  4. If you don’t believe in yourself and love yourself, nobody else will.
  5. Some dreams do come true. Sometimes they just take a long time to happen.
  6. Laughter may not cure everything but they sure do make you feel a lot better.
  7. Home is where the heart is.
  8. Family is not just biological. Family can consist of other people who accept and love you for who you really are, no matter where you come from or what your past was like.
  9. There are just some things in life that you have to sacrifice, no matter how much it hurts, in order to be happy.
  10. Acceptance is the key to moving on and letting go.
  11. Sometimes not trying to control everything can be a good thing. Hard thing to do for a Type A like me but it does me a lot of good at times.
  12. You can’t change people if they don’t want to be changed. Why bother anyway?
  13. Sometimes it’s okay to rely on someone for some things. That’s what true partnership is all about.
  14. Forgiving does not necessarily mean forgetting. You just choose not to dwell on things that you can’t change anymore.
  15. Age is all in the mind. 😀
