Let me just start this by saying that we planned this day only a day before it happened. I was so excited because this was going to be our first day out as a family of five. I was also stressing because I haven’t been out to a mall with a newborn in tow in such a LONG time. I wanted it to be special and memorable and wanted to capture every nice moment in photo. So, imagine my disappointment upon learning that the battery of our digicam hasn’t been recharged. Totally my fault, which means I wasn’t able to photograph anything. Grrrr! Nevertheless, it was a fun and memorable day. Let me tell you why.
Yesterday, we woke up as early as we could to go to the mall. We got there about an hour before lunch and immediately went to the salon. The girls and I went to get our hair cut. The girls’ hair have gotten so long already. Summer is fast approaching and it has started to become real hot lately so having shorter hair would definitely make things easier for them. I, on the other hand, wanted to cut my hair short because it’s just easier, taking into consideration that I have a newborn, whose needs I have to cater to practically every single second. We all got matching bobs and it’s so cute, really. Something I wanted to capture in photo but couldn’t. Sigh.
Anyway, while we were getting our hair done. Kai stayed at the Coffee Bean with Ziggy. We met up with them there and had lunch. The girls had lasagna, Kai had a tuna sandwich and I had my favorite chicken and mushroom fusilli, something I wanted to capture in photo, too but couldn’t. Sigh.
The girls and I left the boys at the Coffee Bean again to do some errands. We bought something at the hardware store. I don’t even remember what it’s called. That was the first time ever that I bought something at the hardware without Kai around. Then we went to Powerbooks to buy the kids some new books, which I will blog about later. Then we dropped off our stuff with Kai and Ziggy again and left them there for the third time so that the girls and I can watch Rango, which of course I will do a review of  in this blog later as well. By the time we got back to Kai and Ziggy, they have been at the Coffee Bean for a total of SIX long hours already. Oh well, we couldn’t bring an infant into the cinema. Besides, Kai knew I needed time out from the baby and needed to spend alone time with the girls and so he didn’t really mind. It was his alone time with Ziggy too. After that, we had Mongolian food for dinner then went to another mall to get groceries before heading home.
Oh, let me just say that I am so happy that this mall has a Family Lounge now, which I wanted to take a photo of but couldn’t. Sigh (for the third time). After the movie, I had to take Ziggy to a restroom so I can change him and I discovered the Family Lounge, which is so cool. It had separate bathrooms for male and female, of course. The female bathroom had a really comfy changing station. The lounge itself had sofas and tables and chairs. It had a nursing station and even a playroom! What it didn’t have, though, was a TV, but I guess they didn’t want people to just stay there for a long period of time and so they probably did not put one in on purpose.
Despite the lack of photos, it was a really great day. It wasn’t as hectic as I was expecting it to be though we were out for a total of 10 hours. Imagine that! Ziggy was great! He wasn’t fussy at all and only cried when he was hungry. He’s a really great baby, a very good boy. We all had a great time. So, everything worked out well, I must say. I can’t wait for our next family day out. Next time, I’ll make sure to charge the digicam battery the night before. Promise!
