I’ve been homeschooling my daughter, Ziya, only since school started last June 2011. So far, so good, if I do say so myself. We’ve only been doing this for almost four months now but I can already see some improvements in Ziya. She’s learning her lessons faster and is becoming more independent in doing her work. I can hardly wait to see what she will accomplish in a year’s time. Homeschooling Ziya is, indeed, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made as a mom.
If there is one thing, though, that I wish to improve in our homeschooling experience, it would be on how I organize all the paper work. I am a bit obsessive-compulsive and so, of course, I have placed the lesson plans into one long folder. However, I wished I could make it more organized by separating lesson plans for each subject. There are also other notes and stuff that really have no place in that folder. I also realized that sometimes the lesson plans I had were not enough to really plan everything that Ziya has to accomplish. Good thing I came across The Printable Homeschool Planner.
REVIEW:
The Printable Homeschool Planner was created by Heather Bixler, who has been homeschooling since January 2006. She believed that organization is the key to homeschooling success. The Printable Homeschool Planner makes it easy for homeschoolers to get organized because it allows them to print only what and how much they need. The look of the planner is totally in the control of the user. All you need is a three-ring binder, the forms provided by the Printable Homeschool Planner, a printer with ink, a three-hole puncher and dividers (only if you need them).
When you purchase The Printable Homeschool Planner, the following forms will be included:
  • The Cover Page – PDF Printable
  • Art Project Planner – PDF Printable
  • Attendance Record Keeper – PDF Printable
  • Book Report Worksheet – PDF Printable
  • Field Trip Planner – PDF Printable
  • Project Planner – PDF Printable
  • Science Experiment Planner – PDF Printable
  • Scripture Verse Planner – PDF Printable
  • Student Project Notes Worksheet – PDF Printable
  • Thematic Unit Planner – PDF Printable
  • Lesson Planner – PDF Printable
  • Password for unlimited access to current and future homeschool printables in their exclusive member download page.
Just print whatever forms you need, place it in the binder, and that’s it! Easy, right? You’ll have everything in one place, which is exactly what I needed.
I was very excited to have this chance to review The Printable Homeschool Planner because I knew this could only help make our homeschool experience better. So far, I have already been able to use the Lesson Planner, Attendance Record Keeper and Project Planner for Ziya. I like the fact that since I don’t need the other forms yet, I don’t have to print them. Saves on ink, paper and space! However, that doesn’t mean I won’t need the other forms. Since my eldest daughter, Zoe, still goes to regular school and has a book report coming up, I have also printed the Book Report Worksheet and gave it to her. She was so excited to use it since it helps her get her thoughts organized. Further, since September is Science month in their school, Zoe and Ziya (who still participates in some regular school activities) will have experiments to do for the Science Fair come end of the month. The Science Experiment Planner sure comes handy for this one.
As if all those are not enough, I accessed the exclusive member download page and discovered tons of other useful forms. I downloaded the Eight Subject Lesson Planner, which allows you to jot down what topics will be covered for each subject for every day of the week. This made my life a lot easier because it helps prepare me for the week ahead.  Aside from that, I also downloaded the Daily Planner, which helps you plan specific activities for every hour of the day, as well as the Idea Planner, which you can jot down any thoughts or plans you may have that the other forms may not cover.
I am extremely happy with The Printable Homeschool Planner. You can get a copy too for only $ 4.99. Want a discount, though? Why not use the discount code created especially for you, dear readers of mine? Just use the coupon code: J250 when you make a purchase and get $ 2.50 off! Isn’t that great?

  7. I've read a lot about homeschooling blogs in America, I thought the idea was kind of far-fetched here in our country but it's great to know there are parents who homeschool their children. I'm inspired and eager to learn more about homeschooling in the Phils. since I have a gradeschooler and soon-to-be-preschooler kids. 🙂
