I’m a little depressed right now. I have discovered that my pants and shorts have become tighter that usual. Buttoning them up has become a challenge. It could only mean that I have gained some weight over the holidays. Darn! Somehow I knew this would happen.
The thing is, over the last two weeks, I’ve been feeling some pregnancy symptoms. So, I started thinking that I could probably be expecting and that the additional weight could be because of that. However, as it turned out, it was just PMS. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I could no longer attribute the weight gain to pregnancy. I had to face the fact that I gained weight due to excessive eating and little exercise. Grr!!!

I haven’t actually got on a scale to check just how much I gained. But I’m guessing I’m now about 10 lbs overweight. That is considering the maximum ideal weight for my height. So, I am hoping to lose at least 10 lbs by March, just in time for the summer season. If I can lose 15 lbs, then better!
So, how am I going to do that? Well, I’ve never really been on a diet my whole life. I was really slim as a child and for most of my teenage life. Before having kids I was only 108 lbs. There was only about two years in my teenage life that I tipped the scales at 115 lbs and that’s the average weight for my age and height back then. So, I never really had to diet. The most I’ve done was give up on soda for a month back in college. I was really lucky then. I could eat as much as I can and never gain a pound. I guess, things change as we get older. Darn!
Anyway, I don’t want to do something drastic. So, I’ll start with something I think I can do, which is give up on soda again for a month. Plus, I’ll add giving up on rice too. Of course, I’ll keep eating more healthy stuff like fruits and vegetables. I’ve also even switched to eating wheat bread. I’m hoping that these small changes will bring big results. Wish! I actually started doing these things yesterday so today is Day 2 of my no rice, no soda diet. So far, so good!
Okay, I know I should be exercising more as well, but with my erratic and hectic schedule I really don’t know how I can fit that in. However, I did win a 15-day pass at Urban Ashram that I have yet to use. Time to do yoga, I guess!
So, wish me luck, you guys. This is my first attempt to really diet. I hope I’ll be successful so that I can start feeling better about my body again. I’ll let you know what happens in a month.
