I’ve never really believed in making New Year’s resolutions. I think most people make them with intentions of really doing them but a lot of us end up getting frustrated with them by the middle of the year. In the end, we don’t really accomplish anything. I have been guilty of that before. However, last year, instead of making resolutions, I started writing down my goals instead. I think goals are more focused and clear-cut and writing them down somehow makes them easier to accomplish.
Last year, my ultimate goal was to launch my career as a work-at-home mom. It wasn’t clear to me at first how I was going to do it but eventually the universe conspired with me to make it happen. Now, I am working as a freelance writer and social media manager and I am loving it!
Obviously, I have goals too for the year 2013. I actually blogged about the things I wanted to accomplish this year. Early this month, I blogged about my 2013 mantra, which is EXPLORE. DREAM. DISCOVER. Well, before now, I hadn’t heard about the “in” thing nowadays wherein you pick one word that will encompass all your goals for the year. I think it’s a great way to give you focus. So, based on my mantra, I’ve chosen the word “EXPLORE” as my one word for the year because that is the essence of all the things I want to achieve this year. Do read my previous post about my mantra for an idea of what I want to explore.
So, anyway, I also discovered that there’s actually a blogger who makes one word buttons for free. Her name is Melanie of the blog OnlyaBreathe.com. She also set up a monthly linky to encourage people to blog about  and share their accomplishments with regard to their one word. I think it’s such a fabulous idea that I immediately requested for my own one word button. I expected to wait several days before I get a reply and for her to finish the button. However, to my surprise, she sent me my button the next day! Here it is.
Isn’t it great? I totally love it. Just looking at it makes me inspired to accomplish all that I set out to do for the year.
In case you guys want your own one word button, Melanie would be happy to make you one. Just click on this link for the information on how to make a request for it. Hurry because her offer lasts only until January 31.
Do stay tuned on the 15th of February about my first post about my one word accomplishments. Good luck with your one word!
