2012 was such an awesome year although it didn’t actually start all that well for me. In the end though, the not-so-nice things that happened early in 2012 turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It enabled me to finally really start working from home and follow my writing dreams. Aside from that, it was also a year of milestones for my family.
Here’s a list of our highlights from 2012:

Ziggy Turned 1

Ziggy turned 1 last February and it was, of course, such a great milestone. Turning 1 meant learning how to walk (and run fast), how to say more words, how to identify animals and their sounds and even to identify the different types of trucks (he LOVES trucks!). Now, Ziggy has even started counting already and is trying so hard to learn how to jump! He also now knows how to mano, and say “please”, “thank you” and “welcome”. I swear he learns something new everyday. He’s really not a baby anymore. He’s actually turning 2 next month. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. It has been a great year being Ziggy’s mom and just being here to care for him everyday and watch him grow is something I’ll always treasure for the rest of my life. I look forward to more fun, bonding moments with him this 2013.
Zoe’s and Ziya’s Big School Milestones

This year, Zoe and Ziya transferred to a bigger school, closer to our home. This is their first time in a big school so it was really a big deal. I was quite apprehensive at first but thankfully, both of them are thriving in their new environment. They’ve made lots of friends. They’ve joined the Girl Scouts and the Drama Club. Their grades are good too. Ziya made it to the Top 10 in her class. Zoe, did too. She’s actually at the very top. As in, Top 1! That’s my girl! What’s been challenging with Zoe lately, though, is that she has become more emotional. I was told that this is normal for tweens. My gosh she’s only 11 and the teenage angst has already begun. Lord, help me to be wise and strong enough to handle their teenage years. It’s going to be a crazy (and I hope still fun) ride!
Hubby’s Freelance Design Projects

Although my hubby has a full-time job, he takes on freelance graphic design projects whenever he can. The additional income is a big help to us. 2012 brought him more projects especially towards the end of the year.  I’m so happy for him because designing is really what he loves to do. If I had it my way, I’d have him quit his job then just work from home as a freelance designer. I really think he’d earn more that way. Plus, he’ll always be home with me and Ziggy! He’d be happier doing something he really loves. So, I’m hoping and praying that during this new year, we’d be able to at least lay the ground work to prepare him to work at home. Crossing my fingers and toes!
My Freelance Writing Career
I still can’t get over saying that I’m a freelance writer. I guess I never really thought I could actually do it. However, 2012 brought me people, who encouraged me to start writing professionally and gave me opportunities to do so. It gave me confidence in myself and in my talent and so I also started pursuing opportunities on my own. Now, I’m a contributor for two awesome sites. Plus, I’m also on retainer for one client as a copywriter. I love it! I love the fact that I can earn by working from home. I am so grateful to God for leading me to this path.
Roller Coaster Ride Turned 2
So much has happened to this blog during the months leading to its second anniversary. I have been fortunate enough to acquire more readers and visitors. I’ve started getting more sponsored posts. Also, local brands have started to partner with me, allowing me to sponsor more blog giveaways. It was also this blog that paved way for my freelance writing career. So, I owe a lot to all of you, who continue to support this blog. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
There were definitely a lot more wonderful moments. Unfortunately, I can’t recount all of them in this post. These five things I mentioned above pretty much sums it all up, though. This past year was really focused on family and work. 2012 really came with such great blessings. It was truly a year to remember.
How was your 2012? Do share.
