It’s finally here! It’s Christmas eve and for sure, most if not all of you guys will be busy preparing for tonight’s Noche Buena. As for me, I still have three more gifts to wrap. And I still have to order the big bilao of  Mixed Sushi with Sashimi that we’re going to contribute to Noche Buena at my sister-in-law’s place tonight. Plus, I still have to iron the clothes that my kids are going to wear.

Christmas preparations can no doubt be very exhausting. I love doing them just the same. I’ve been waiting for Christmas to come mostly because I get excited that my kids are excited. Christmas has taken a whole new meaning for me since I started having kids. It has really been about making them happy.

A while ago, I was watching TV while the three kiddos were already asleep and I started feeling pangs of sadness. A lot has changed about how we spend Christmas over the last several years. Reunions with friends from long ago started to stop. I don’t know if it’s just because we’re all busy or the fact that we don’t really have that much in common anymore that we don’t really feel like spending time with each other.

Aside from that, my side of the family will once again celebrate Christmas without my brother, Marvin, who has passed, as well as my sister and our dad, who cannot be with us because of other reasons. It makes me sad remembering all the happy Christmases we’ve had in the past, knowing that no matter what we do, we can no longer go back to that time in our lives.

But, oh well, Christmas is all about celebrating Jesus and being grateful for all of life’s blessings. So, I’m choosing to focus on that. I have a hubby and three kids who make Christmas a more meaningful and happier experience for me. It’s just too bad that we can’t celebrate a “normal” Christmas. Hubby has work on Christmas Eve and the girls have to split their time between spending Christmas with us and with their dad and his family. That’s just how it is in our blended family during the holidays.

Nevertheless, the five of us will still be able to spend time with each other this Christmas. We will still have each other. And that’s something worth celebrating. We are blessed and we are thankful for that.

So this Christmas, we wish that all of you will also have a blessed Christmas, one that you would be able to happily spend with your family and friends.

Christmas Greeting 2013

Happy Holidays everyone!!!
