On My Daughter’s Grade School Graduation

I’ve been anticipating Zoe’s graduation from grade school since forever. On March 27, it finally happened. Zoe graduated from grade school with honors. It was definitely a proud mommy moment.

It was such an emotional event to me that I really couldn’t help but cry. Since she’s my eldest, Zoe’s the first one among my kids to graduate from grade school. I’ve been imagining this day since she first started school at the age of 3. Now, she’s already 12 years old and will be entering junior high in just a couple of months. I am so happy for her accomplishment but at the same time, I can’t help but be sad. She’ll be a teenager soon. Awwww……

Nothing can compare to that feeling of going up on stage to place a medal on your child. Zoe’s dad was the one who accompanied her on stage to receive her diploma. But, I was the one who went on stage to place her medal.

I had done that so many times before. She has been receiving all sorts of medals and awards in school since she was three. I’m used to going up on stage because of that. And while it’s true that medals aren’t everything, I still feel that this one is the greatest one of all because it represents all her hard work for the past several years. It also represents all the hours I’ve spent helping and coaching her with her school work. So, her achievement is mine too.

The day was emotional for me too because not all of us could attend the graduation. The school only allowed two guests per graduating child. So, of course only I and Zoe’s dad, my ex, were able to attend. His family had to stay home while my hubby, Ziya and Ziggy opted to just do the groceries nearby and wait for us to finish. When the ceremony finally ended, we were able to have this one family photo outside. Well, better this than nothing!

After the graduation, I let Zoe and Ziya go with their Dad to celebrate. It was their time together. Hubby, Ziggy and I waited until the weekend, two days after the graduation, to celebrate with them.

We didn’t do anything fancy. We went out to dinner that weekend. Since I had to use this gift certificate from Cravings, we went to their branch in Molito, Alabang.

It was our first time there. The interiors of the place were really nice. The servers were attentive. I liked that they had a soup and salad buffet. The servings were more than enough I think. We weren’t too impressed with the taste of the food though. Maybe we just have to try their other offerings.

Of course, what’s a celebration without dessert? Since our graduate requested for crepes, we decided to go to Le Creperie, also in Molito. I’ve been wanting to try that place for so long and that day was the perfect time.

We had the mango crepe, some macarons and of course, coffee for me and the hubby. Oh so yummy!!! We gotta come back next time and try the other selections. And oh, that time they had an accordion player too, who played French music. Love, love, love, love it!

It’s summer now and the girls are currently on vacation. Soon, they’ll be back, summer will end and the girls will be back in school. Zoe will be in 7th grade while Ziya will start 6th grade. Ziya will be graduating next.

But until then, for now, allow me to just savor looking at Zoe’s medal.
