I’m a sucker for anything leather, which I guess explains why I love leather travelers notebooks so much (Can I say “obsessed”?). But if there’s one leather item I really want to buy for myself, it’s a new leather bag.
Well, it looks like I found myself a leather shop I can get bags from and it’s called De Rajje. De Rajje is actually an artisan leather goods shop located at Unit 2169C Narra Street, United Hills Village (UPS1), Barangay San Martin de Porres, Parañaque City. I got invited to visit their quaint store last weekend and the owners generously shared the story behind their business and showcased their product lines as well.
I learned that the name De Rajje was actually derived from the initials of the owners. They are all friends who decided to put up this business together. Last year, one of them apparently learned how to make a leather bag, all by hand. The others really liked it and so more bags were made until they finally decided it was something they could actually sell. Thus, De Rajje was born. They’ve been actively joining bazaars since last year, working from a garage, but finally put up their own store in March of this year.
I saw some of their leather bags and I loved them! They’re very well-made. You can tell they use quality cowhide leather, which they source from a supplier who gets them abroad, though they source some leather locally as well.
One thing really amazing though is the quality of the stitching. All De Rajje products are handstitched and handmade. The only time they use a machine is when they need to do some stamping on the leather for personalization. We actually saw the staff there while they were stitching some products. One of the bloggers in our group even got to try it out for herself. I think it was really cool! I’ve only had experience cutting leather before. Stitching it is something I wish to learn to someday. Luckily, De Rajje is planning to host leather-related workshops soon. So, let’s all stay tuned for that!
Aside from leather bags though, De Rajje also makes a lot of other leather goods, such as card cases, keychains, wallets, passport covers, bag tags, cup holders, cable ties, wallets, coin purses, and more.
They have a variety of designs to choose from although the owners shared that a lot of their customers go to their shop with customized designs in mind. They like that they can come up with something that is totally unique and not something mass produced. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a bag or whatever type of product (there was one who even asked to have a customized leather car seat organizer), De Rajje will do it as long as they are capable to do so. They have various types of leather to choose from. You can even customize the color of the thread to be used. Here are the available thread colors sewn on their most common leather samples.
A lot of their customers have leather products customized in bulk to give away as personal gifts or corporate giveaways. For a personal touch, you can have your orders stamped with your name or logo. Here’s a sample of that. De Rajje gave me my own set of key chain and card case stamped with my nickname on it.
They started making their own packaging too. They have boxes of various sizes, which you can also have personalized with your name or logo.
Now let me show you the bag I’m lusting after. This (shown below with a card case)!
I love the shape of this bag and the fact that it’s so roomy. I’m definitely one of those moms who tend to bring a lot of stuff for my kids and myself in my bag so this one will be perfect for that. I also love that it has two different handles. I can use it as a handbag and as a sling bag. But, the thing I love most is the leather. It’s so soft and smooth and smells oh so divine! Hoping I can save enough in the coming months so that I can buy myself this awesome De Rajje creation.
