I remember back when I was still a kid, my dad would bring home several cans of these candy-looking things. I didn’t like them much back then because they would sting my mouth. However, they were quite effective in soothing my dry, itchy throat.
Fast forward to today…. I realized that Valda Pastilles is still very much in the market. And guess what? The adult me appreciates it better now. Haha!
In case you’re not familiar with the product, Valda Pastilles is a product distributed by Aspen Philippines Incorporated, the first South African pharmaceutical company in the Philippines. It started operating here in January 2012.
Aspen Philippines’ range of products initially comprised of antibiotic, anti-hypertension, anti-gout, anti-platelet, and anti-hypothyroidism. But the company continued to expand its reach, acquiring global brands in consumer healthcare, which include Dequadin, Kwell, and Valda Pastilles.
Valda Pastilles was created to help soothe dry and itchy throats. It’s available in 20g Menthol Sachets, 50g Menthol Tin Cans, and 50g Lemon Tin Cans. You can purchase them from Mercury Drug, Watsons, selected 7-11 stores and all leading drugstores nationwide. I love how handy they are! I can easily bring them with me anywhere I go.
When I was a kid, I was only familiar with the original Menthol version. It’s made with Safflower extract, menthol, eucalyptol, thymol & terpinol. However, I recently learned that they now have a Lemon flavor as well. It’s made with Lemon oil, menthol, eucalyptol, thymol & terpinol. I like this one better than the Menthol one but both are equally effective in relieving me of dry and itchy throat.
I mean, isn’t it just so hard to talk when your throat is dry and itchy? Valda Pastilles’ menthol extract gives you a cool and soothing sensation to help you make conversations run smoothly the whole day. Try it so that you can be confident enough to say hello and make conversations matter.
For more information, visit the Aspen website or follow Valda Pastilles on Facebook.

I grew up on the menthol version, paborito kasi ng mom ko. I got to try the lemon one once, but ubos agad eh kasi masarap haha.
Naghanap tuloy ako bigla ng Valda! Makabili nga! haha!
Sana pala naghanap ako ng ganito nung kasagsagan ng ubo ko! At maganda ang packaging ah pwede mu pa gamitin after.
I remember the menthol ones too. I wasn’t aware they had another flavor. Will try to get one when the need arises.

I knew this candy, we have this at home too when I was a kid. I was really surprise na meron pa pala. Like you, ayaw ko din nito dati e, ewan ko na lang ngayon kung okay na siya sa panlasa ko.
Oo nga meron din nito sa bahay noong bata pa ako. Like most moms menthol din yung alam ko at nakakagulat din na meron pa pala now ishare ko ito kay hubby 🙂
I remember Valda Pastilles from my youth. I dont appreciate its taste, too. But i love collecting the tin can. 🙂 I haven’t tasted one since …. all I remember is that I was still in elementary then when I first had my valda pastilles. I wonder if the adult in me would appreciate it now.
I never tried this! I always go for Strepsils or Fisherman’s Friend for sore throat relief. I am the type who usually suffers from throat issues, I’m actually having one right now and finished a pack of strepsils. Maybe I’ll try Valda if I saw one at supermarket. ?
I love Valda pastilles. I mean, not as a reliever for itchy throat but as candy! Hahaha. Kidding aside, I think they change the formulation now kasi years ago, the mint taste is super strong.
May supplier po ba sa Cebu for Valda? thanks
