Prepare Your Family for Medical Emergencies With PhilCare’s ER Vantage 80 Prepaid Card

One of the things I’m scared of the most is having any one in our family get sick and not being prepared for it financially. Right now, only hubby and our son are covered with a health card. My daughters and I are not. We are not covered under his health card because he and I are not legally married (although I refer to him as hubby) and the girls are not biologically his.

As a work-at-home mom working as a freelancer, I don’t have an employer who can give me health card benefits. That has always been one downside of being a freelancer. A lot of the HMOs these days only offer health cards to company employees as part of their benefits. Though there are some who also offer health cards to individuals, it’s not so easy to apply.

It is for these reasons that I’ve been looking for a health card that will cover at least the expenses of medical emergencies so that we can have the peace of mind that we will be taken care of well in case something happens to me or the girls. The problem is that a lot of the health cards and insurance policies from HMO in the Philippines these days are expensive and require so many payments before one can avail of the benefits. Before you can even get one, there are so many forms to fill up, so many other documentary requirements, including check-ups. The process is just so tedious.

Thankfully, I recently came across a better option.

Have you guys heard about PhilCare? PhilCare remains a pioneer and recognized leader in the industry of HMO in the Philippines three decades after it was founded.

One of their products is called the ER Vantage card. Now before I share with you my experience on purchasing the card, let me share first the details of this product.

ER Vantage health cards come in three variants that individuals can choose from depending on their preferences and needs. For a one-time payment of P900, P1,100, or P1,300, users can avail of P40,000.00 up to P80,000.00 worth of emergency hospitalization expenses. I got their best seller which is the ER Vantage 80 as it offers private room access.

Upon text registration, the card will be activated within a 7-day period. The benefit of the card runs for an entire year where the registered can avail of the emergency hospitalization at any of PhilCare’s affiliate hospitals and clinics nationwide.

  3. health should always come first above anything else and having such health card will be very beneficial when an emergency situation occurs… we cannot deny the fact that these emergencies will affect our budget if we didn’t have insurance to cover most of the expenses
    thanks for sharing

  4. Wow! I’ve never heard of this, but this will help people whose companies don’t have healthcare benefits. I’m covered with my husband’s health care, but I’ll spread the word to friends. Thanks!

  7. Thank you for this. My husband decided not to enroll the kids last year and this year again so as to cut expenses. Unfortunately, two of my boys were hospitalized and we didn’t have our usual health card to help us with the finances. This is something we really need. Thanks again.

    1. Awww, sorry to hear that about your kids. It’s really difficult getting sick without healthcare benefits. I hope this card will at least help you in the future should you and your family need it.

  8. This is an informative article! I think I am considering this as an alternative to my corporate hmo once I switch to being a WAHM.

  9. Medical insurance is the main reason why I’m still hesitant to finally work from home and freelance. This is good for emergencies and I’m fortunate that my whole family is covered with the current medical insurance that we have at work.

  10. Thanks for sharing this, Janice! This is a great innovation.

But on a different note, have you been reading the Facebook posts that say PhilHealth is dying?

    1. Yup, I’ve heard that about PhilHealth. However, they came up with a notice to address that issue already. Apparently, there’s nothing to worry about.

  13. Hi everyone, just wanna share my experience sa ER Vantage 80 of PhilCare which I just recently bought August 2016 for 1,300 pesos:

Na admit ang 5 yrs old daughter ko Oct 5, 2016 @ 9:30 pm.
Ward (1,240 per day) palang available kasi punuan, pinatos ko na kasi para magamot na agad ang baby ko nagpareserve nlng ako private room in case may magdischarge na…the ff day nakalipat na kami sa private room (1,585 per day) kasi un nmn talaga benefit sa er vantage 80. Pneumonia ang sakit ni baby and as per Philhealth dapat naka confine ng 96 hrs para macovered nila…

    So, Oct 9, 2016 @ 9:30 pm kami nakalabas…
    My Total Bill: 35,111.00

    PhilHealth coverage : 15,000
    PhilCare coverage: 19,764.50
    My Excess: 346.50

Yes, 346.50 lang binayaran ko… i figured out kung san galing ang excess sa Room and Board pala…
Upon comoutation, dapat pala di lalamaps sa 1,400 pesos ang private room na kukunin mo… ung sakin kasi 1,585 🙂

Galing ng card, sulit na sulit pero mas ok sana na ndi na nagamit…kukuha sana ulit ako for my daughter but unfortunately, since September 15, 2016 ginawa na nilang 18-64 yrs old from 6 months to 64 yrs old.

Health Vantage nlng kukunin ko… same benefits pero multiple use sya, pwede sa 6 months to 64 yrs old.

Thank God at nagpapagaling nalang ang baby ko.
