Last year around the same time, Zoe had her First Communion. Now, it was Ziya’s turn. This past week was actually very hectic for us since I had to take Ziya to Greenbelt from Monday to Wednesday for their First Communion Rites practice. Their practice lasted the whole day, for three days. It was really hard because I also had to finish processing some pre-employment requirements for my new job. Anyway, the three days went by fast and before we knew it, it was Thursday already – the day of Ziya’s First Communion.

Ziya wore Zoe’s dress from last year, as well as the same veil. Only the shoes were different! Haha! She didn’t mind though since she’s used to getting Zoe’s old clothes. Usually, they’re not old looking anyway. She looked pretty cute actually. Her wearing a white dress makes me wonder what she’ll look like in a wedding dress (hopefully many, many, many years from now!). Here’s a photo I took of her before we left the house. She’s holding a basket of flowers because she was assigned to offer it during the Offertory.

By now, I knew what to expect already since the event was exactly like Zoe’s last year. It doesn’t make it less special though. Ziya was really looking forward to this but was at the same time very nervous about the actual day because they only had a few days to practice the mass songs. I am so happy for Ziya, because aside from baby Ziggy, she was the only one left in the family who hasn’t been taking Communion yet. Here’s Ziya’s first time to take Communion.

Here’s a photo of the entire 3rd grade class, who took their First Communion, along with Fr. Dave Clay, and the school Directress, Vanessa Garon, and two teachers.

Anyway, Zoe had class that day but decided not to go to school in order to support her sister. Makes me so proud to be their mom. We couldn’t bring baby Ziggy though because we were afraid he’d make a fuss and disrupt the event. Besides, he won’t understand what was going on anyway. Still, I’m sure he’s proud of his big sister too.

Congratulations Ziya! We’re so proud of you!
