As a busy work-at-home mom, it often becomes challenging to balance work with caring for the family and doing housekeeping. Oftentimes, I find myself having to let go of doing certain chores, such as organizing my wardrobe as well as those of my hubby and kids. So, I researched for ways on how to organize your wardrobe in such a way that it will make it easier for you and your family to find space for everything you need and make everything look neat.
Here are some of my tried and tested steps on how to organize your wardrobe:
Take everything out of your closet.

Admit it. A lot of the stuff in your wardrobe are probably stuff you don’t need or use anymore. So in order to take stock of what you have, take everything out first. Segregate everything into piles of, let’s say, pants, skirts, blouses etc.
Try everything on.

If you’re like me and you have gained some weight (or lost some weight, lucky you!), chances are there are a lot of things in your closet that don’t fit anymore. So try everything on to see what among your belongings you can actually still wear.
Declutter .

Now that you know what kinds of stuff you have in your wardrobe and what still fits or not, it’s time to segregate them into piles. I suggest you make separate piles for KEEP (things you will still use), GIVE AWAY (things that you no longer want to use but can still be used by others), THROW (things that can no longer be used because they’re beyond repair and cannot be recycled) or SELL (things that can still be used and that you’d like to earn money from). At the end of this, you’ll have a better idea of what to shop for, if necessary (hehehe!).
Organize your wardrobe

The next challenge has to do with how to organize everything in your wardrobe, especially if you have a small one like I do. If you have the funds, you can opt to shop for a new wardrobe. There are a variety of wardrobes you can choose from depending on your requirements.
To make space for everything, have a good look at your stuff to see what options you have. Installing shelves is a good way to segregate things. Use drawers for folded items. You can also use baskets instead. Use hangers for dresses, pants, etc. Hooks are a good way to hang items such as belts. Boxes can be utilized for small items and accessories.
After you’ve done all these, the important thing left to do is to just try and keep everything where they should be. It shouldn’t be too hard since you’ve already made space for everything. Remember that it is necessary to revisit your wardrobe at least every year so that you can keep it up-to-date.
