We have been maid-less and yaya-less for the past 13 months. That’s a real accomplishment because we’ve always had at least one at home. But 13 months ago we made the decision to quit hiring household help because we’ve encountered problems finding trustworthy and efficient ones.
Well, had I known then that I can send our helpers to attend proper training maybe we wouldn’t have had that much trouble maintaining them. It’s so good to know that there are now organizations such as Manila Workshops who organizes training sessions for yayas and helpers. Check this out!
This Basic Yaya Training is actually a series consisting of four (4) separate training sessions. This first session will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, 1:00 – 4:30 PM at Babyland Shaw Blvd. 548 Facilities Center, Shaw Blvd. 1500 Mandaluyong City.
This session will discuss the following topics:
- Personality Development
- Manners
- Etiquette
- Responsibilities/Housework
- Alternative Cleaning Methods
- Healthier Food Alternatives
The instructor, Cristina M. Mendoza, RN of VentureLab, is a licensed nurse and a preschool teacher too.
The learning fees for this training is as follows:
Regular rate: Php 1,000 (Starting February 15, 2014)
Early Bird Rate: Php 700 per participant (Register and Pay before February 15, 2014)
The fees already includes handouts, snacks and certificate of attendance. You also have the option to pay via BPI, UnionBank or Paypal.

Good thing there are events like these. During our time, yayas are never trained formally.

We haven’t had a yaya/househelp for over a year, too (for the same reason as yours). I can’t imagine how I survived- but the kids are fine and our house isn’t too much of a mess. Hihi! If we do get a yaya/househelp, I think this is something I’d send her to. I don’t think I’m very good at training househelp eh… or I’m just too OC.

We also don’t hire helpers because of our bad experiences with our past helpers. It’s a good thing there are seminars like this we can attend.

Mommies who don’t have helpers — ang galing nyo! 🙂 I once challenged myself tobe yaya-less for my newborn daughter but my MIL sent a yaya the first week. Thank God the yaya is okay naman so far. 🙂
